WOL Academy & Azania Partner for Youth Digital Skills

  • March 17, 2025

wol academy and azania partnership

We are thrilled to announce an exciting new partnership between WOL Academy and Azania Paragon Institute (API)! This collaboration marks a significant step forward in our shared mission to provide quality IT-oriented education to students and communities in underserved areas. Together, we aim to equip young South Africans with the digital skills they need to thrive in the 21st-century job market.

A Partnership Rooted in Shared Values

At WOL Academy, we believe in the transformative power of education. Our partnership with Azania Paragon Institute is built on a shared commitment to empowering disadvantaged communities through accessible, innovative, and impactful learning opportunities.

As Thando Langa, Chief Executive Office of API, aptly stated:
“Our values and mission align, and we believe that a partnership between our organizations could have a profound impact on the lives of young South Africans and their communities.”

This collaboration is more than just a partnership—it’s a movement to bridge the digital divide and create opportunities for growth, innovation, and success.

What the Partnership Entails

The WOL Academy and API partnership is an initiative set to launch in March 2025. The program will focus on three core areas:

1. Core Programs for Grade 10-12 Learners

Targeting high school students, these programs will provide foundational digital literacy and workplace skills, including:

  • Computer Basics and Navigation
  • Microsoft Office Suite Fundamentals
  • Generative AI Fundamentals

These courses are designed to enhance employability, digital fluency, and readiness for further education and training.

The rollout of the school programs will first focus on the Ekurhuleni region, with a strong emphasis on townships such as Katlehong, Vosloorus, and Thokoza. By starting in these communities, we aim to address the digital skills gap where it is needed most.

2. Seasonal Tech Workshops for Grade 5-9 Learners

Younger students will have the opportunity to participate in engaging workshops that introduce them to the world of technology. Topics will include:

  • Basic document creation and editing
  • Introduction to robotics and coding
  • Digital citizenship and online safety

These workshops aim to spark curiosity, develop problem-solving skills, and promote responsible digital engagement.

3. Community Programs for Broader Impact

Beyond the classroom, WOL Academy and API will offer vocational workshops and interactive Zoom sessions for community members. These programs will cover:

  • Comprehensive CV creation and presentation
  • Digital tools for document conversion and management
  • Understanding different types of documents and their applications

The community programs will initially be rolled out to empower residents of Vosloorus, with workshops hosted at the WOL Academy premises. By bringing these programs directly to the community, we aim to foster economic empowerment, digital literacy, and social cohesion.

Why This Matters

In a rapidly evolving digital world, access to quality IT education is no longer a luxury—it’s a necessity. By partnering with Azania Paragon Institute, WOL Academy is taking a proactive step toward ensuring that young South Africans and their communities are not left behind.

This initiative is more than just a program; it’s a pathway to a brighter future. Together, we are building a foundation for academic excellence, entrepreneurial success, and career readiness.
